Job titles within the area of senior management can vary widely depending on the size of the company and its function. Large multi-national companies will have numerous senior Executives, each responsible for a different area of the business, and in comparison smaller companies will have fewer senior roles. All senior roles require excellent communication and leadership skills, and must have an in-depth understanding of business issues. Those in the role of CEO (Chief Executive Officer), MD (Managing Director) or CIO (Chief Information Officer) understand the different areas of the business and are responsible, with their management team, for setting the company’s strategy and business objectives and ensuring these are met or exceeded.
