Birth of eBay...

eBay Inc has a global presence in 39 markets, including the US.

Born in 1995 when Pierre Omidyar, a computer programmer, wrote the code for an auction website he ran from his home computer. It is now a huge international online auction website with approximately 84 million active users worldwide. eBay users trade more than $1,900 worth of goods per second! You can use it to buy virtually anything in a virtual shopping world.

A force for good...

The founder intended it to be a “force for good”. Since 1998 eBay has facilitated the re-use of an estimated $100 billion in used goods. Instead of discarding items people no longer have a use for they can sell them on, an impressive way of preventing unnecessary waste.

Career bay...

eBay considers its business model to be a little unusual: “We don't build cars. Or computers. Or yo-yos. But we build something just as important. Communities. We've created a place where people can come together. Exchange ideas. Share experiences. And expand their own businesses...  Our people are the reason we’ve come so far”. Find out more about career opportunities in IT and becoming one of those people.
