The mind googles…

We’ve all heard of Google, and probably all used it. In fact it is something most of us take for granted whenever we want to find a snippet of information. This increasingly handy tool provides internet search, web-based e-mail, online mapping, tools for business, social networking, video sharing services and of course the new Street View application. Google London's predominant focus is mobile engineering. Maps for Mobile was launched from the London Office.

Inside Google

There are three offices in the UK: London, Oxford and Manchester. The London office 'GooglePlex' is the largest and occupies three floors and more than 80,000 square feet of Belgrave House in Victoria. There are around 800 Googlers, including software engineers, system administrators, technical writers, quality engineers, test engineers, user-experience researchers and product managers! There's even a slide in the office! Take a look below and you’ll see why Google is known for its innovative corporate culture.

Did you know?

  • Employees are encouraged to use 20% (1 day a week) of their time working projects outside of their core area of focus.
  • The London office offers massage and yoga classes, as well as aikido classes.
  • Free breakfast, lunch and supper and plenty of snacks to get you through the day served from the two food areas at GooglePlex: the main cafe and a smaller deli.
  • Googlers range from former neurosurgeons, CEOs, and U.S. puzzle champions to alligator wrestlers and former-Marines (according to the website!)
