COMPANY: Electronic Arts
TITLE: Studio Director, Criterion Games
On a daily basis I get together will all the managers from the different areas of the game making process and discuss what's going on at the moment, what happened the day before, and what the plans are for the next day. My role here really progresses in that manner, meeting with the different teams and working on the game, either building it or improving it, until it's finished.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
I ended up at EA in a bit of a round about way. I actually started out at a publishing company after doing a history degree at university. However, I had good Project Management skills and used them to move into the games industry.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- I recommend a university degree in a subject that you are good at, but more importanatly a subject that interests you
- You need to have played the games that the particular company you want to work for makes and have the ability to talk intelligently about those games. Make sure you do this before going to any interviews.
BENEFITS OF THE JOB:
Getting to make great video games!
CAREER GOALS:
I want to contuine in my role as Studio Director and work with my team to make great games, just as we do at the moment.
