JOB TITLE: Research & Development Engineer
This involves:
•
Researching, understanding and developing technology ideas and technical solutions in many areas - from programme making to broadcasting and internet delivery
• Keeping abreast of new technologies
RELATED DEGREE:
• 4 year undergrad degree in Computer Science (MEng) from University of York
WORK EXPERIENCE:
• Student Television (the technical side - broadcast systems, studio systems, graphics, technical planning / management etc.)
• Summer placements, during degree, with BT Research Labs (Martlesham, near Ipswich)
SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Problem solving
• Ability to analyse and design as well as develop
• Enthusiasm to learn about unfamiliar and new technologies - to work outside of my original specialisms
• Broad range of software development skills + technologies: C / C++, PHP, Java, Python, AJAX, XML, OpenGL
• Ability to communicate to both technical and non technical audiences
