Day at Microsoft for Diploma students

On the 25th February Diploma in IT students from all over the country were given the exclusive opportunity to attend a Microsoft Insight Day that took place at Microsoft’s offices in central London.

Diploma in IT, Microsoft, Insight DayThe day was attended by over 180 male and female Diploma in IT students from 25 different schools. Students were from all three levels of study within the Diploma in IT; Foundation, Higher and Advanced levels.
A wide selection of employees from across Microsoft UK were involved in the day ranging from online to research and evangelism to marketing. Students heard and saw for themselves how technology underpins business and perhaps most importantly, were reassured that IT will only expand in the current economic-climate. The students enjoyed the opportunity to put pen to paper, minds together and let their passion for technology flow during the interactive workshop session.
They were presented with the chance to make a business pitch to a panel of high-profile Microsoft employees, practice verbal communication of their ideas and hear feedback from their peers about their designs. Students came to understand the huge variation of roles that feature under the banner of technology and enjoy an opportunity to speak first-hand with IT Professionals, something that would not be so readily available to non-Diploma students.
During the day students also got to exclusively see some of the latest technology Microsoft are creating and developing including Microsoft Surface and Deep Zoom.

Present on the day was Microsoft’s Managing Director for the UK who had this to say about Microsoft’s support for the Diploma in IT.

“It was fantastic to be able to bring the Diploma in IT to life by having students attend days like this – to show students how diverse and rewarding a career in IT can be. Microsoft is totally committed to making the qualification a success and to encouraging more young people to consider education and careers in the vibrant world of technology.”
Gordon Frazer, Managing Director, Microsoft UK

The event provided Diploma in IT students with an exclusive insight into a high-profile global IT company such as Microsoft.
